A 36-year-old Pennsylvania woman is currently being held by police for attempted homicide after she shot her husband in the head. The woman, named Rachel Eutsey, committed the crime after her and her husband had spent the morning arguing after an enormous crack-binge the night before. The argument?
“It was the difference between traditional oats and instant oatmeal,” said Pennsylvania State Trooper Robert Broadwater.

It all began after Rachel’s husband criticised the oatmeal she brought him. The argument that resulted was so brutal it involved him trying to choke her which prompted Rachel to run to her bedroom and grab the revolver. When she returned her husband had a baseball bat, but for some reason he threw it out of an open window before slowly walking towards her. He was yelling at her, so Rachel decided to shoot the gun to “scare him” but accidentally wound up hitting him in the head.
Rachel immediately phoned the police, and when they arrived they found the husband lying on the floor barely able to breathe. He has since been flown to hospital and has undergone emergency surgery and while he is currently alive, his condition remains critical.
Police have also revealed that the couple were both meth addicts. They would regularly go out late at night and buy drugs at around 1.30am. They would then sit in their car, with their infant daughter still in the backseat, and smoke crack cocaine. They would then return home to smoke the rest. This cycle had been repeated for several nights before the incident in question.
Rachel Eutsey faces charges of attempted homicide and is currently being held on bail for $100,000 at Fayette County Jail.

Now, we all have arguments as a couple where something small escalates and grows until the pair of you are going at it with all sense of proportion thrown out the window. To anyone looking outside-in they’d think you were completely mad, but to you it all makes a twisted kind of sense. However, rarely is the matter as boringly mundane as oatmeal—which you have to admit is a stupid thing to argue over—and rarely will the argument escalate into full blown murder. Also, and I can’t speak for others but I certainly can for myself, my arguments rarely involve large amounts of crack cocaine!
