The above clip shows the shocking result of a doctor removing a still living leech from the nose of a patient.
The disgusting clip was shot by a shocked nurse who nearly fainted while watching Dr Liu Xiongguang perform the procedure. He visited the Beihai People's Hospital in South China complaining about having nosebleeds for 10 days non-stop.
During the clip it looks quite painful given what’s happening. And the doctor can be heard telling the patient to be quite as he squirms in discomfort, but we can’t exactly blame him. When the leech is finally removed we can see his eyes widen with shock at what had been hiding in his nose.
Dr Liu told reporters,
“The male patient is 51 years old.
“He's just come back from work in Yunnan Province and has been suffering from nosebleeds for more than 10 days.
“His wife said she had seen something peek out of his nostrils.
“When I checked I saw it in his right nostril, then I found something in his left nostril that suddenly disappeared.
“We confirmed it to be a leech during a nasal endoscopy.
“My nurse almost collapsed from fright.”
It was revealed during the doctor’s questioning of the man that the leech must have swam into his nostrils while he was drinking from a stream over 10 days earlier.
Remind us to never, EVER, do that.
