Love Island newbie Ellie Jones has been blasted for social media posts in support of imprisoned EDL activist Tommy Robinson. Fans have managed to track down her profile on Facebook and have gone through her posts to find several shares from pages with videos of the controversial character, along with captions like "I'm not racist, but..." talking about terrorism and England. Robinson, 35, is currently in prison for contempt of court after he filmed a Facebook live video outside court after being warned doing so could jeopardise the investigation - he was sentenced to 13 months in prison but his supporters have been protesting the charges, claiming he is the victim of a targeted campaign.
Screenshots have been floating around the internet where Ellie has shared two videos, one from May 2017 with the caption: "LONDON. I'm not a racist, but this guy speaks sense! he is branded a racist by many.. wether he is or isn't that's non of my business. I just know he speaks the truth" and a video of Tommy Robinson accompanied by three 'okay' emojis Ellie added herself. The second is entitled 'Tommy Robinson: "Why do we let these terrorists back into our country?''' which she posted with three clapping emojis. Ellie might not realise the controversial nature of her political posts, but Love Island fans certainly do and have taken to Twitter to accuse her of racism.
One wrote "ELLIE SUPPORTS TOMMY ROBINSON LOOOOOL f***ing HELL SHE JUST GETS WORSE #loveisland" and another added "Wish Ellie would have followed her mate Tommy Robinson to prison instead of Jack to Majorca." She's annoyed fans from the moment she entered because she used to date Jack Fincham, part of the villa's golden couple of 'Jack & Dani' or 'Jani'. She shared an emotional conversation with Dani yesterday about the girls' mutual boyfriend and got very nervous beforehand, crying in the villa kitchen and being consoled by Grace. Fans weren't convinced though, and accused the girl of faking tears for sympathy.
