A nine year old girl in Uganda has died from an eye-bleeding disease that some people have said could turn out to be more deadly than the Black Death.
The symptoms of the eye-bleeding disease include headaches, bleeding, vomiting, diarrhoea and muscle pains and its thought that it could kill up to 40 per cent of those infected by it. The new outbreak comes only months after hundreds of people were killed by the plague in Madagascar in what was described as the worst bout for 50 years. Three people apparently died of a similar viral fever in South Sudan last week, and health officials remain tight-lipped about what this could mean for health in East Africa.

A health team were quick to disinfect the girl's house in Nakaseke District, central Uganda, and a relative of the dead girl has said that the family are being left in the dark regarding burial arrangements and the full diagnosis.
