Kanghua Ren is a famous Youtuber from Barcelona perhaps known better as ReSet. He has, like most youtubers, made a name for himself by acting like a total psychopath and then swearing it was all for a bit of fun. Some of Kanghua Ren’s videos involve tricking people into eating sandwiches filled with cat poo, including children and old people. But it was a recent video that has caused an enormous backlash after he filmed a video where he paid a homeless man to eat an Oreo filled with toothpaste.
In the clip he can be seen paying the homeless man, who was a former pastor in Romania and has been identified only as George L, 20 Euros to eat the Oreo. As George L eats the Oreo Kanghua turns to the camera and says,
“Maybe I’ve gone a bit far but look at the positive side: this will help him clean his teeth. I think he hasn’t cleaned them since he became poor.”
Kanghua Ren, a.k.a. ReSet, who is currently on bail awaiting judgement, had previously offered sandwiches filled with his cats' excrement to children and elderly people.https://t.co/miTiU5zpoX— Tommy C (@MegaMuggins) April 19, 2018
Later on Kanghua returned to George L, again, to repeat the prank. Both times caused the internet to become quite upset and caused Kanghua to try returning a third time (apparently to make amends) but it wasn’t enough. A witness saw Kanghua repeatedly harassing the homeless man and decided to phone the police who arrived and arrested. Prosecutors are now looking to press charges and convict Kanghua with breaking a moral integrity law. A crime which could see the young man face two years behind bars while paying the homeless man 30,000 Euros.
Afterwards Kanghua deleted the Youtube video and went back to try and bribe George L with 300 Euros, despite having made around £2000 from the advertising revenue from the original video. He also attempted to defend his actions in one video saying,
“People exaggerate over jokes in the street (played) on a beggar, when surely if it’s done to a normal person they wouldn’t say anything.”
Later on, however, he tried a more contrite approach and told people,
“I [was] only think of playing and doing fun things. I'm 19 and I'm not very mature.”
At the moment Kanghua has been ordered not to return to China, his home country, and will soon be in court over his behaviour. Already George L has given testimony to legal authorities telling them that he did not know who Kanghua was, that he feared for his life, and after the incident found himself vomiting heavily due to the toothpaste.
