This Morning has sparked controversy after inviting a woman onto the show who admits sleeping with over 100 married men, and doesn't feel guilty at all. Gweneth Lee, 47, loves to be a mistress and has played the part with countless married men, and she even claims she's saved many marriages with her affairs. She lives in London, but has claimed that many of the men will fly her out to see them and they cover all of her expenses, causing some to question whether what she does can technically be called prostitution. Philip Schofield actually asked her if her... unique hobby was just a consequence of a high sex drive or if she considers it to be a job, but Lee said she owns several businesses and the affairs are purely for pleasure.
Gweneth had been in an open relationship with her husband before his death, and he introduced her to the concept when they met and embarked on his fourth marriage. He was apparently a serial cheater and had struggled to stay faithful in his previous relationships, but Ms Lee was accepting and shrugged it off, commenting: "Well, there is a reason why he has been married four times!" She spoke about her opinions on marriage, and why physical relationships on the side should be encouraged, saying: "I think monogamy is overrated. You marry because you have found your best friend. I think an affair is nothing more than a physical action. You have to be wise and find someone else who is wise too."
Unsurprisingly, viewers weren't impressed by her comments and encouragement of extra-marital affairs. Some even branded her a 'glorified prostitute' who needs emotional help. "I think she just craves the attention and drama. She could sleep with single men but it obviously isn't as exciting for her. I think she needs counselling for so many issues." Another pointed out that, though she might not take money for the affairs, the fact her expenses are covered and the men buy her gifts does probably call the transactional nature of the relationships into question. Regardless, Gweneth views what she does as a public service, and apparently "More than one man has said that 'having an affair with you has made our home life more relaxed'." Sure, I wonder if his wife would agree.
